SYNOPSIS
The Lackawanna Chapter started its capital campaign in July of 2000.
Since then we have raised more than $60,000. The majority of these
funds have gone for the various necessary tasks before major
structural work can start. These included site cleanup and drainage
work, as well as stabilizing and weatherizing the station. In
addition, a complete structural review has been prepared, with
restoration engineering plans, specifications, and a work schedule
with cost estimates.
We are now raising funding for the largest undertaking in the
restoration process. Most of the deteriorated roofing must be
removed, and the walls will have to have repairs in many areas
before the new roof structure can be set on them. Along with the
roof work, drainage away from the building will have to be restored
to proper functioning.
The most cost effective way to approach this work is to do it all at
one time. Although funding goals would be smaller if the work were
broken into sections, the nature of the structure, being two
buildings with one continuous roof, dictates this all at once
approach. This approach will save on the costs of multiple starts
and the resultant costly repetition of the many building tasks
involved.
The estimate for this work is $600,000. |

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Our "buy-a-brick" program
is your small donation opportunity to help save the station. For a
contribution of $10.00, or multiples thereof, you will receive a
certificate with your name and brick number, or numbers, inscribed
on it. In all cases, whether you wish separate certificates for your
multiple donation, or just one certificate, print the name, or
names, as you wish them to appear on the donation form. Your
donation information will be recorded in our registry. A copy of the
certificate is below.
